GlobalFoundries, founded in 2009, is a world leading semiconductor manufacturer offering solutions for automotive, computing, internet of things (IoT) and smart mobile devices applications. GlobalFoundries’ range of technology platforms includes FinFET, RF, CMOS, Silicon photonics, and fully depleted silicon-on-insulator (FD-SOI) technology. Their collaborative supply chain model utilises both in-house and partner expertise to support customers with turn-key manufacturing services such as package design and operations management. GlobalFoundries is owned by Mubadala Investment Company, and is a member of the International Semiconductor Development Alliance. In 2023 Onsemi completed its acquisition of GlobalFoundries' 300mm fab in East Fishkill, NY.

Water Strategy

GlobalFoundries has a target of improving water use efficiency by achieving a normalized water use of 0.32 liters/Manufacturing Index or less by 2025.

GlobalFoundries Fab 1 in Dresden has an ultrapure water recycling plant for treating and returning low-pollution rinse waters back to the UPW makeup plant. In 2022, the company announced that this plant has a 75% recycling rate for UPW.
